Who we are

BuffettMungerGPT (“the site,” “we,” “us”) is an independently-operated index of publicly-available writings, speeches, and interviews from Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, and their associates. The site is operated by Whitecliff Analytics. You can reach us via the contact information on the About page.

What we collect

  • Search queries. When you ask a question, the question text is sent to our language-model providers (Google Gemini and/or Anthropic Claude) so they can generate an answer. Queries are not associated with personal identifiers; we keep only an anonymized counter for rate-limiting and abuse prevention.
  • IP address (transient). Your IP is used solely to enforce per-visitor rate limits (so the LLM bill stays bounded). We store the IP and a timestamp for up to 24 hours in a sliding window, then delete it.
  • Analytics events. Page views and aggregate interaction events are sent to Google Analytics 4. IP addresses are anonymized before being stored by Google (we set anonymize_ip on every event).
  • Advertising signals. Once Google AdSense is approved on the site, AdSense may set its own cookies to serve relevant ads and measure performance. These cookies are managed by Google, not by us — see Google's Advertising Privacy & Terms.
  • Accounts (currently optional / not required). The site is currently fully open-access — you can search, browse, and read every transcript without creating an account. If we introduce optional accounts to gate higher-tier features (for example a paid Deep Research subscription), signing up will require an email address and a password (or a magic-link token), and a paid plan will additionally require billing information processed by Stripe — card numbers and full billing details are sent directly to Stripe and never stored on our servers; we keep only Stripe's customer ID, your email, plan tier, current period end, and cancellation status. We will not share account data with advertisers.

Cookies

The site uses two categories of cookies:

  • Functional cookies — set by your browser (LocalStorage) to remember your dark/light theme preference. These never leave your device.
  • Analytics + advertising cookies — set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense for the purposes described above.

Third parties

The site sends data to the following processors:

  • Vercel — hosting and edge serving (request logs)
  • Supabase — Postgres database (rate-limit log only — does not contain query content)
  • Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude — LLM providers that synthesize answers from retrieved corpus excerpts. Your question is sent to one of these providers per query.
  • Voyage AI — embedding provider; queries are converted to vectors here for semantic search
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymized analytics
  • Google AdSense — display ads (when active)

Affiliate links

The Books page contains affiliate links to Amazon Associates and Bookshop.org. If you click one of these links and purchase the book, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. We disclose this relationship in compliance with FTC guidelines on endorsements.

Your rights

Because the site does not maintain user accounts, we do not control any personally-identifiable data tied to you. Specifically:

  • GDPR (EU residents). You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via Google's opt-out add-on. You can opt out of personalized ads by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • CCPA (California residents). We do not “sell” personal information as defined by CCPA. To request information about data Google holds on you, see Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Children. The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Updates to this policy

We may revise this policy as the site evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on the home page for at least 30 days.
